Semi-Guided Hike of Jungfrau – How This Works
The Swiss Alps Jungfrau Region – Via Alpina #1 – How It Works
Before leaving, in the U.S.A., an expert on the Via Alpina #1 and Jungfrau region will provide all the pre-trip information.
In Switzerland, a local Swiss resident, English speaking guide, will greet you outside the customs area at the Zürich airport.
After allowing time to take advantage of airport services, like ATM’s and pharmacies, you’ll be transferred to the first night at an Engelberg hotel.
Your guide will accompany you and can answer all your “top of mind” questions.
After a good night’s sleep, your guide will meet at the hotel and review the itinerary.
Drop your specially tagged luggage off at reception by 9:00 am. It will magically arrive at the next designation by 6:00 pm.
Hiking maps will be provided for the entire hike. We’ll explain the day by day itinerary. Once you are comfortable and ready, we’ll begin the day’s hike.
The guide will accompany you on the first day. We’ll explain Swiss hiking trails and how the trail signs work, how to read public posted signs, and how to use you transportation card,.
You will have the entire day to ask questions.
After the first day, for any additional “on the trail questions”, our Lucerne helpline will be available to assist.
By the time you reach the evening’s lodging, you will feel very confident about traveling on your own.
Please also visit our logistics page.
Hike on public maintained trails with easy to see and read signposts. You’ll know where you are and where you are going.
You have access to our local Lucerne helpline from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to call our Lucerne office if you have questions or need additional information. You will also be given a “safety-kit” so if you’ll have the basics for a bandage etc.
Our Lucerne and U.S.A. offices are ready and available to offer all the verbal support during your hike. We want you to experience all your “Swiss-List” bucket list.
We also offer local guides to continue hiking with you in Melchsee-Frutt, Grindelwald and or Mürren, (For budgeting – an additional guide would cost about $500.)
