History of the Jungrau Railway
The construction of the project began in 1886. It has been safely transporting passengers since 1912 on the same route to the Jungfraujoch summit offering visitors the most beautiful lookout and adventure platform in the Alps.

Highlight Experiences
As you depart from the Kleine Scheidegg station, you see up close the Jungfrau mountain glaciers and then you enter the Eiger mountain tunnel that winds you up to the Jungfraujoch station.

Once on top of the 11,330 ft Jungfraujoch you have options to stay inside the attraction complex and you also can explore the outside Altesch glacier and see nature’s amazing splendor. Once inside you can ride the elevator up to the Sphinx observatory providing panoramic views of the snowy Alps, green valleys, and the Great Aletsch Glacier.

From the metal grating terrace that surrounds the building, one can see over 11,000 feet below, with views stretching as far as Germany and Italy. With this 23 mile glacier your eyes just see mountain peaks and snow.

For families there is a fun snow park on the glacier. Here you can rent snowtubes, sleds, skiis and even sail down a zipline. Many people prefer to just sit on the sunchairs, sip some coffee and enjoy the amazing scenery.

For the hearty there is an hour walk on a hard packed snow path to Europe’s highest Alpine hut, Mönch Hütte. The trail leads through the alpine glacier world in the midst of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch. The hut offers a breathtaking view into Central and Eastern Switzerland as well as the Valais mountains.You might even see mountain climbers ascending or descending that provides an more exhilarating experience.
